Scheduled to depart daily from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, the eight-hour flights will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER with a capacity of 304 passengers.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, said “Dubai and Taipei are very similar, both are important trading hubs and today’s link will help to build on bilateral trade.
“We have been working hard to promote Taipei across our network and I am confident that the influx of business and leisure passengers will continue to grow.”
Sheikh Ahmed was among the first passengers arriving the same day on the inaugural Dubai-Taipei Emirates flight.
According to the airline, the new service builds upon a partnership that began in 2003 when Emirates commenced freighter services from Dubai.
The carrier’s initial target market is Taiwan transit passengers traveling to Europe and Africa, Emirates said, adding that it is also looking to create new travel and business opportunities between Taiwan and the Gulf region. (YHC-JSM)
